SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
• Essay of Intent addressing the artist(s’) approach to Competition goals and themes and why and how the work and, or creator(s) is appropriately positioned to engage and express keen knowledge of relevancy; 350 words, 12point Arial or Calibri font, double-spaced, PDF
• Four 20”x20” Boards, digitally presented with a maximum 20 MB each
• One MP4 Video up to one minute is also permitted as an additional upload but is not required.
• Names of persons, firms or schools must not be exposed or apparent on any part of the submitted materials either graphically or in text.
REGISTRATION FORMS
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA AND CONSIDERATIONS
• Creative approaches to expressing the compelling story of Mitchelville’s inhabitants and their quest for self-determination, citizenship and opportunity
• Art with the ability to enhance the landscape of Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park by also offering visitors an interpretive, forward-looking message of ongoing relevance
• Art that is appropriately compatible with the geo-environmental context of the Park
• Art that celebrates and conveys the rich Gullah-Geechee heritage in which Mitchelville is centered
• Art that recognizes Michelville citizens’ reliance upon and demonstrated ability to be proficient stewards of the Low Country’s ecological environment
• Creative technical attention to form and materials appropriate for public safety and environmental endurance
